FAQ
Where is the training conducted?
All courses are held at our Beauty Schools located in Chatham, Kent. Parking is available opposite in Union Square Pay & Display (Behind GALA Bingo).
When do we gain access to online training?
Students receive access to our online training area before attending the school. This allows them to complete the theory at their own pace, ensuring better absorption of information. It also maximises practical time, enabling tutors to demonstrate best practices and address any questions.
Diploma vs. NVQ/VRQ qualification difference?
The choice depends on your goals. For personal use or home-based businesses, a diploma by the Beauty Guild is recommended. If working in a Salon or Spa is your aim, an NVQ/VRQ qualification is usually required. Opting for NVQ/VRQ involves an additional assessment day, automatically awarding a diploma qualification.
Upgrading to VRQ/NVQ (VTCT)?
After completing the Diploma day, home study includes a Practice Diary, Case Studies, and an Assignment to demonstrate knowledge. Access to online documents and support from our NVQ Coordinator is provided. Assessments and written exams occur at the school, with home study taking 2-8 weeks.
Can a diploma be upgraded to an NVQ later?
Yes, an upgrade is possible for specific treatments. An additional fee is applicable for the upgrade, and all necessary materials for the NVQ qualification are provided. Assessment day scheduling at the school follows.
Can insurance be obtained with a Diploma certificate?
Insurance companies accept both Diploma and NVQ certificates. Our specialised insurance scheme through Salonsafe offers tailored coverage for qualified students, encompassing treatment risk as standard.
Refund policy for course cancellations?
Refunds depend on circumstances and notice given (refer to T&C). Medical notification is required for illness-related refunds. No refund is possible if online theory has been accessed/completed.
Is home study required?
Yes, home study includes online theory and practical practice after the course. Approximately 6-8 treatments are recommended for enhanced confidence. Free refreshers are offered within 6 months if additional training is needed.
Class size and model requirements?
We keep class sizes small (around 4 students) for personalised attention. Some courses may require models, and for NVQ/VRQ, students provide their own models for Assessment Days.
Attire and standards for attending courses?
Students must adhere to professional standards in attire, including a tunic or black top with trousers, covered shoes, tied-back hair, and well-kept hands/nails.
Course finish time and requirements?
Finish times vary; check the course on the website for details. Students may need to bring a pen and paper, but all materials are provided.
Accreditation and certificates?
Courses are approved and accredited by The Guild of Beauty Therapists (Diploma), VTCT (VRQ), or UKBA (UK Beauty accreditation). Certificates are issued based on meeting standards for theory and practical delivery.
