The Level 5 diploma extends into investigation and research into current practice theories, and models relating to education and training, as well as developing good teaching practice. This qualification prepares trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts including further, adult or community education or work-based learning. The qualification confirms occupational competence in teaching in these settings, and combines the study of underpinning theories, frameworks and research into effective teaching and learning alongside the development of practical teaching skills
During this qualification, you will cover the following units:
Wider Professional Practice and Development in Education and Training
The aim of this unit is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills relating to wider professional practice in education and training. You will learn about professionalism and professional values in education and training, the policy context of education and training, the impact of being accountable to stakeholders and external bodies, and the organisational context of education and training. You will also understand how to contribute to the quality improvement and quality assurance arrangements of an organisation.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training
The aim of this unit is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills relating to teaching, learning and assessment in education and training. You will understand the role and responsibilities of a teacher in education and training, agree individual learning goals and planning, as well as delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. You will learn how to create and maintain an inclusive learning environment and evaluate your own practice.
Developing Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Education and Training
The aim of this unit is to provide you with the knowledge, understanding and skills relating to developing teaching, learning and assessment in education and training. It includes investigating practice in own area of specialism, applying theories, principles and models of learning, communication and assessment in relation to planning, delivering and assessing inclusive teaching and learning. It also involves applying theories of behaviour management in creating and maintaining an inclusive learning environment and applying theories and models of reflection to evaluate own practice.
Theories, Principles and Models in Education and Training
The aim of this unit is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of theories, principles and models applied to education and training. You will learn about the application of theories, principles and models of learning, communication and assessment in education and training. You will also cover the application of theories and models of curriculum development within your own area of specialism, and the application of theories and models of reflection and evaluation of your own practice.
Developing, Using and Organising Resources in a Specialist Area
The aim of this unit is to enable you to develop, use, and organise resources within a specialist subject, vocational or other area. It includes the purpose, development and use of resources, how to organise them and enable access to others. It also includes understanding legal requirements and responsibilities relating to resources and evaluating your own practice in resource development and use.
Inclusive practice
The aim of this unit is to develop your knowledge and understanding of inclusive practice. You will learn about factors influencing learning, and legislation relating to inclusive practice. You will also cover the roles and responsibilities relating to inclusive practice, how to create and maintain an inclusive learning environment and how to evaluate own inclusive practice.
Action research
The aim of this unit is to enable you to carry out action research in an area of professional practice. It includes understanding the nature and purpose of action research, conducting action research and presenting the outcomes. You will learn how to evaluate your own practice in relation to action research.

In order to meet the requirements of this qualification, you must be able to fulfill the requirements below. All material for your qualification will be uploaded to an elearning platform. This can be accessed from anywhere. You will complete all your unit assignments on the computer, printed and then sent via post. Any teaching observations are to be filmed, uploaded onto USB and sent via post. Please send all material via recorded delivery.

Yes - this is a home study based course. By signing up for Teacher Training courses with us, you are taking on responsibility for the qualification. You should be expected to complete 4 to 6 hours of home study throughout the duration of your course - this could be in the form of research, assignments, shadowing and practical development.
What do I do if I need to see someone about my course?
In the event that you should require a meeting with your course tutor, please email the address on your Induction Letter so that a meeting can be arranged. This can be done at either of our schools or via Skype.
I want to complete a teaching qualification with you, but I do not live near the schools. Can I still do this?
