You’re probably familiar with LinkedIn at an individual level - it’s by far the most popular platform for professional networking and job-hunting. It doesn’t stop there, though! More and more businesses are using LinkedIn to network, market, and stay ahead in their industries. LinkedIn offers a wealth of features to promote your business, and keeps adding more.
Using LinkedIn for business builds your company’s digital presence, and connects you with potential partners, clients, and customers. This course will give you the tools you need to develop your LinkedIn strategy and build the best company profile, whatever the size of your business.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Create a high-quality LinkedIn company page
• Use LinkedIn’s specialized features to boost your company’s profile
• Build meaningful business relationships through high-value posts and featured content
2) The Basics of Accounting
Although most businesses use professional accountants to prepare their annual accounts and handle all the tax filings, this doesn’t mean that business owners and managers can give up all responsibility for keeping the books in order.
An effective bookkeeping system can help you avoid cash flow problems, ensure compliance with tax and business regulations, and make better financial decisions. But where do you start? Even the basics of accounting can seem confusing at first. This course will guide you toward an appreciation for some of the key terminology, and then the numbers will start to make sense.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Differentiate between the methods of cash basis accounting and accrual accounting
• Organize your accounts by type – Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Revenues, and Expenses
• Explain the principle of double-entry bookkeeping
• Describe the purpose of the key financial statements – the income statement, the balance sheet, and the cash flow statement
3) Working Capital Management
You can always tell a business is doing well by looking at its profits, right? That’s the bottom line. Well, hold on. It’s not the full picture. What if the business has great profits, but isn’t holding enough cash to keep the lights on? Running out of cash can spell disaster for businesses. That’s why it’s important to manage working capital.
Working capital management ensures that a business has enough funds to conduct its day-to-day operations, such as buying stock or paying staff. To manage working capital effectively, you need to know about the cash conversion cycle, asset monitoring, and indirect cash flows. There are also ways to improve working capital management to ensure the business's success.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Identify the 3 main elements of working capital, so you can effectively manage them
• Explain the cash conversion cycle, so you can manage the time it takes to pay monies owed
• Demonstrate an understanding of asset monitoring to maintain cash flow
• Demonstrate an understanding of the indirect method of calculating cash flows
• Manage working capital more effectively
4) Short-Term Cash Monitoring
Have you ever needed to make an unexpected purchase and suddenly discovered there’s not enough cash to pay for everything? Being short on cash can harm businesses. Even if the business is making a great overall annual profit, that doesn’t mean there won’t be cash-flow problems in the short term. That’s why short-term cash monitoring is so important.
When a business monitors short-term cash flows, it’s easier to plan and track finances. A cash-forecasting model, such as a 13-week cash flow, produces a better understanding of the amount of cash coming in and going out of a business. This is useful when you need to make short-term purchasing or budgeting decisions, and can help a business avoid a cash-flow crisis.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Describe the principles behind short-term cash modeling
• Recognize the benefits of 13-week cash flows
• Explain how to create a 13-week cash-flow model
Why take this course?
It’s important to know how to monitor cash flows in any business. So, if you’re a business leader, team leader, or manager, this course will suit you. You’ll learn about short-term cash modeling principles, the benefits of looking at short-term cash flows, and how to create a 13-week cash-flow model.
5) Key Financial Statements
Don’t you just hate doing paperwork and filling out forms? But we all have to do it, at least once a year. Preparing financial documents like statements of income and expenditure can be a real chore, especially when you don’t feel confident in your understanding of what is expected.
Let’s be honest, making sense of these things can be a struggle.
If you’re someone who slips and stumbles when they address their balance sheet, then fear not! This course will show you that you don’t have to be a qualified accountant to understand the purpose of and the terminology used in key financial statements.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Recall what the key financial statements are – for both businesses and individuals
• Understand when you might need to produce these documents
• Read and write financial statements
Why take this course?
The requirements for personal financial statements are very similar to those for businesses and other entities. We all have official documents that we need to file at certain times, some more than others. By taking this training you can reduce the pain that comes with having to compose and complete these statements.
6) Business Analysis Technique - MOST and SWOT
Every business or project starts off with a vision and a plan. But once everyone gets stuck into day-to-day work activities, it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. And if that happens, you won’t have a good understanding of how well your business or project is working, and it may start to struggle.
You can keep your project on track by using MOST and SWOT analyses. These powerful planning and analytical tools will help you figure out what goals your organization or project needs to achieve, and how to achieve them. You’ll also gain an improved understanding of your business or project, so you can make better decisions.
By the end of this course, you’ll be able to:
• Describe MOST and SWOT analysis techniques
• Carry out a SWOT analysis to improve understanding of a business or project
• Carry out a MOST analysis to align long-term goals with day-to-day activities
Why take this course?
Strategic planning with tools such as MOST and SWOT is an important business activity. So, if you’re a project manager, business leader, or business analyst, this course is ideal. You’ll find out what MOST and SWOT techniques are, and how to perform MOST and SWOT analyses.

FAQ
Where is the training conducted?
All courses are held at our Beauty Schools located in Chatham, Kent. Parking is available opposite in Union Square Pay & Display (Behind GALA Bingo).
When do we gain access to online training?
Students receive access to our online training area before attending the school. This allows them to complete the theory at their own pace, ensuring better absorption of information. It also maximises practical time, enabling tutors to demonstrate best practices and address any questions.
Diploma vs. NVQ/VRQ qualification difference?
The choice depends on your goals. For personal use or home-based businesses, a diploma by the Beauty Guild is recommended. If working in a Salon or Spa is your aim, an NVQ/VRQ qualification is usually required. Opting for NVQ/VRQ involves an additional assessment day, automatically awarding a diploma qualification.
Upgrading to VRQ/NVQ (VTCT)?
After completing the Diploma day, home study includes a Practice Diary, Case Studies, and an Assignment to demonstrate knowledge. Access to online documents and support from our NVQ Coordinator is provided. Assessments and written exams occur at the school, with home study taking 2-8 weeks.
Can a diploma be upgraded to an NVQ later?
Yes, an upgrade is possible for specific treatments. An additional fee is applicable for the upgrade, and all necessary materials for the NVQ qualification are provided. Assessment day scheduling at the school follows.
Can insurance be obtained with a Diploma certificate?
Insurance companies accept both Diploma and NVQ certificates. Our specialised insurance scheme through Salonsafe offers tailored coverage for qualified students, encompassing treatment risk as standard.
Refund policy for course cancellations?
Refunds depend on circumstances and notice given (refer to T&C). Medical notification is required for illness-related refunds. No refund is possible if online theory has been accessed/completed.
Is home study required?
Yes, home study includes online theory and practical practice after the course. Approximately 6-8 treatments are recommended for enhanced confidence. Free refreshers are offered within 6 months if additional training is needed.
Class size and model requirements?
We keep class sizes small (around 4 students) for personalised attention. Some courses may require models, and for NVQ/VRQ, students provide their own models for Assessment Days.
Attire and standards for attending courses?
Students must adhere to professional standards in attire, including a tunic or black top with trousers, covered shoes, tied-back hair, and well-kept hands/nails.
Course finish time and requirements?
Finish times vary; check the course on the website for details. Students may need to bring a pen and paper, but all materials are provided.
